Re-boot

I started this blog in August 2007 (my third, after ‘Cross The Breeze and I Blog Mustang) with the real belief this was a good idea.

“Picture this. Four people having dinner at the Morton’s Steakhouse in Seattle, all of them are frequent travelers and they talk travel. And when they talk travel, they talk about the little annoyances that come with it, especially when encountering less frequent travelers – or travel newbies ;) They talk about broken WIFI in hotels, but also about great dinners, … etc.”

Two months later that idea was still there… but I failed to make it work. I never intended to write this on my own and contacted a few people to send in stories that would suit this blog well: ‘from frequent travelers for frequent travelers’ remember but that never really took off.

After again a very busy travel period in March and April I decided to give it another go – as I still think the idea works – but with a few twists. I contacted of few of my frequent traveler buddies to see if they wanted to join in on the fun and post some of their experiences whenever they wanted. Some might post rather frequently, some only once a year but at this way it should be more fun.

The idea is not even new, I already introduced you to Claudia Schiepers as a co-author (that was even in the first 2 month stint), and today there are quite a few more I can introduce. There’s Gavin Heaton aka servantofchaos for instance. Gavin is living in Sidney but works for SAP America which explains some of the traveling. And he’s a social media charlatan… his words, not mine :)

Claudia and Gavin are also the first to have posted here, but there should be more coming up sometime soon (or later). From Sean Howard for instance. Sean is a freelance consultant in Toronto and my favorite ‘marketing hacker’… and of course also a bit of a traveler. Back to the other side of the world now, to Charles Frith. Charles is a creative planner in advertising and trends who lives and works in Bejing… or should I say punk planner maybe ;). Last on this list is Björn Ognibeni, a consultant on digital marketing and PR living in Hamburg. Go to any web/tech event in Europe and you’ll encounter Björn so no need to explain the travel there either. I still have another 2-3 people in mind that I would love to join in here, more on that hopefully later.

The last thing I thought of changing is the idea to also write a bit about interesting internet start-ups that do cool stuff related to travel. No this is not going to be TravelCrunch, but all of us are very much interested in what happens in this online space and since travel is the subjet I figured this was as good a place as any to talk about it.

Oh and there’s even a Little Book of Travel group over on Facebook that was created at the start, join it if you please.
